about SEAYouth
SEAYouth is an online festival for Young Southeast Asians to come together, empower each other, and voice out their concerns about the issues related to the Southeast Asia region. The festival is organized to observe the International Youth Day (August 12) and the World Humanitarian Day (August 19) and consists of a series of open spaces, forums, workshops, and any other activities that would empower youth, hone their skills, and culminate solidarity for a sustainable rights-based, inclusive, people-centered, and youth-driven regional community.

Southeast Asia's Youth Collective Statement 2021
In commemoration of International Youth Day (Aug 12) and World Humanitarian Day (Aug 19), ASEAN Youth Forum brought together more than 1000 youth around Southeast Asia to raise concerns on the region’s current situation related to Human Rights, Democracy, Justice, Freedom, and Peace in a fully digital online festival — The SEAYOUTH Festival. The output of the festiva this year is a Youth Collective Statement calling for 7 thematic rights-based action points in order to secure the future of youths across Southeast Asia. This Youth Collective Statement is a symbol of young people engagement in the democratization of Southeast Asia and a part of young people participation to ensure an inclusive, people-centered, gender-sensitive, and right-based community in Southeast Asia. SEAYouth Festival 2021 Publication
The publication highlighted the sessions of the Festival which are designed to identify the underlying issues and recommendations for each of the topics that became the foundation for drafting the Youth Collective Statement. The Grand ASEAN Youth Town Hall comes as a platform to raise youth voices to the world. This is a participative forum between the youths in the Southeast Asian region which provides rich discussion towards related issues that exist in the area regionally.

- Is this event free?
Yes, the event is free of charge.
- What kind of platform we’ll use in this festival?
We’ll use Zoom Application, please have it pre-installed on your device.
- What if I only attend for 1 or 2 days?
We encourage selected participants to attend the whole event. However, if you could only attend part of the session, rest assured that there will be no repercussions. It simply means that we would be missing your valuable presence.
- What are the roles that we can apply for?
There are 4 roles of participation in this year's SEAYouth Festival.1. as Participants. You need to apply and go under selection process to be granted this role. Selected participants will have access to all the programs of the festival.
2. as Speakers in Grand ASEAN Youth Town Hall. During your application, you will need to fill up the "Speaker Form" section in the application form. The form is the same with Participant application. As a speaker, you will have a chance to speak in front of regional audiences and influence the statement through your recommendation.
3. as Festival Volunteers. During your application, you will need to fill up the "Festival Volunteers Form" section in the application form. The form is the same with Participant application. As festival volunteers, you will be coordinating with Festival Team to contribute in building the atmostphere of SEAYouth Festival that is safe, fun, and democratic.
4. as Public / Observers. This role can only access SEAYouth Festival Public sessions, Online Memorial, Yuwana Stage, and Youth Presentations. No registration / application needed.
- What if I am not Southeast Asian?
This event is mainly organised for Southeast Asian Youths. Southeast Asian Youths are those who are the nationals of and/or live in Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, The Philippines, Timor Leste, Vietnam, plus other territories in Southeast Asia.
- What kind of youth can attend the festival? What if I am younger than 15 or older than 35? Can I still join the event?
Everyone is welcomed regardless of your personal identification. The festival is specifically designed for youths aged 15 - 35. However, people below the age of 18 and individuals above the age of 35 may only participate as “observers.” The role of the observers is to passively watch the session. Only the committee can grant access to the limited number of observers.
- What can I do when someone is making me feel uncomfortable?
To the organizing committee, your safety is our main priority. All throughout the festival, the participants will be assisted through a virtual ‘HelpDesk’. We encourage you to report or let us know if you feel uncomfortable or when someone is making you feel uncomfortable. Please refer to the ‘Safety Guidelines’ .
- What are the consequences if I violate the rules and regulations?
Participants are either given warnings or removed directly from the festival based on the violations.
- What are the safety measures and how can the festival organizers ensure my safety during the event?

- Will I get an e-Certificate for attending the festival?
Yes, we providing e-certificate for this event. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to make new friends of many different backgrounds and foreign lands. In addition, you can also gain a variety of knowledge for your own personal and professional development by attending. Last but definitely not least, you would be a part of a major youth and get connected with fellow youths from all over Southeast Asia.
